January and May
A marriage between a young and a much older individual.

This disparity was called January and May by Chaucer, January standing for the hoary frosts of old age and May for the young breath of spring.
In Chaucer’s The Merchant’s Tale the young girl, May, marries January, a baron aged sixty. This fourteenth-century idea was transformed into December and May by the early 1600s (although January and May survived as well). December, of course, is not only cold but also comes at the end of the calendar year and so may provide a better analogy for late in life.
He is 17 years older than her. It's a January and May marriage.
to have January chicks
January和May结婚后不久,May就有了孩子,所以to have January chicks意思为“老来得子”。
例:
His parents gave birth to him when they were fifty-five. He is really a
January chick.
It'll be a long day in January
从字面上来看,“It'll be a long day in January.”
that will never happen,可以得出这句话的意思“不可能发生的事情”,一句很地道的表达。
例:
It'll be a long day in January when you beat me at tennis.
