所谓贴花花，就是张贴年画、春联、窗花和各种神码。其中贴春联的习俗源于古代的“桃符”。古人以桃木为辟邪之木，《典术》曰：“桃者，五木之精也，故厌服邪气者也。”
On the 28th day of the twelfth lunar month, Chinese people usually decorate their houses with festive ornaments, including paper-cuttings for windows, Spring Festival couplets, New Year pictures, pictures of door gods, and lanterns.
腊月二十八，需要给门前屋后来贴点装饰。窗花、春联、年画、门神、灯笼等物件儿就开始发挥自己红红火火的能量啦！
Today people will make sure all the new year decorations are right at the place.
今天他们会确保所有的新年装饰都已经到位。
In a folk saying, 花花 ( hua hua) refers to all kinds of Chinese new year decorations in general.
俗语中的“花花”，指的是所有形式的中国新年装饰物。
People will paste spring couplets (chun lian, 春联 on both sides of the door with a horizontal scroll (heng pi, 横批) on top of it.
人们会在最顶部贴好春联。
couplet这是一种非常古老的文体形式，在英文世界也有这样的概念。
couplet的定义是 two lines of poetry of equal length one after the other（长度一样的两行句子），如果这两个句子还压着韵，则被称为rhyming couplets（押韵对句）来表示。
Besides the paper cut on the windows, many prefer the new year picture ( nian hua, 年画, a tradition form of Chinese coloured woodblock printing) or the poster of the Door Gods ( menshen, 门神) .
除了窗户上的窗花，很多人都很喜欢新年年画，或门神海报。
In Chinese legends, the two Door Gods whose separate martial images are posted on respective halves of double front doors of private homes to guarantee protection from evil spirits (gui, 鬼).
在中国传说中，在两扇门上各贴一个手持长矛的门神，可以防鬼镇宅。
Furthermore, in certain areas, they will start making New Year buns from today onwards.
另外，在一些地区，人们会在今天制作新年糕点。
