rip [rɪp]v.撕破;扯开
如何记忆?
a rip-off =something is too expensive  
下面来看几个例子吧
例1:
-- I bought this book for 40 dollars!
-- That was a rip-off! I got that same book for 10 dollars.
-- 我花了40美元买了这本书!
-- 那太贵了!我花10美元买的一样的书。
例2:
I think if you are paying too much for your basketball lessons, it is a rip-off.
我觉得如果你买篮球课程花了很多钱,那课就太贵了。
 
例3:
I paid too much for this ice cream.
I think it was a rip-off.
我买这个冰淇淋花了太多钱。
我认为这是个索价过高的东西。
a rip-off:  
When something is a rip-off, it costs too much and you do not get what you pay for.
Some things cost more than they should and if they do, we can say it is a rip-off.
