Introduction:
Ken, a small boy, says that he doesn't like his toys anymore. This sends them into the land of toys, a prison-like place for toys. Can his toys escape from the place? Read on!

The Land of Toys
“Boring bear, boring robot, boring train,” shouts Ken as he throws his toys around the room.
“I want some new toys,” he yells.
His mother comes into the room to see what he is doing.
“But those toys are new, Ken,” she says.
“They’re boring,” says Ken, “I don't want them anymore.”
That night, Ken falls fast asleep. He doesn't hear his toys talking.
“Ken is tired of us,” they say sadly.
“It's time for us to go.”
“Why doesn’t he want us anymore?” They ask each other as they all climb into the toy cart. Just as they are leaving, the robot throws a wooden bead at Ken. The bead hits Ken on the head. He wakes up with a start. In the dark, Ken can just see that all his toys have disappeared. His bedroom door is half open, and there are three building blocks lying on the floor.
“That’s strange,” thinks Ken. Ken picks up one of the building blocks. He hears a strange sound. He picks up another block and hears the sound again. Suddenly, Ken realizes what is happening. Each time he picks up a building block, his body becomes smaller. He is shrinking. Suddenly, the world around him is filled with bright colored lights and magical music. He is surrounded by dancing toys.
A small stuffed dog comes out to greet him.
“Welcome to the land of toys,” he says. “Let me show you around. We don't have many human visitors here. All the toys the children throw away end up here,” explains the stuffed dog.
“Some of us aren't in very good shape,” he adds, “But I've still got most of my stuffing.”
Ken is shocked. He has never thought about where his toys go when he throws them away.
Just then they hear a thumping noise in the distance. “Look out.” says the dog. “It's robot and his gang of evil toys.”
Robot and his gang march up and start bullying the good toys.
Everything is thrown upside down as the toys try to escape. Ken runs after a robot angrily. “Stop that!” He orders. But nobody takes any notice. Robot and his gang marched to their base in the land of toys. They are still thumping about loudly. Ken follows them quietly and spies on them through the window. He doesn't hear the two cupid guards who are patrolling the base. Suddenly they are behind him and before he realizes what is happening, Ken is captured. Robot’s gang of toys like to be kept in good condition. Their maker can mend them.
“Give me another coat of red paint.” orders a toy car.
“Tighten up the cruise on my back.” demands a robot.
After all this repair work, Ken is exhausted. He sits down for a rest.
Ken hears a whisper behind him. “Over here, Ken.”
Ken recognizes his toys straight away. “You are my old toys,” he says. “Who sent you here?”
“You did.” They say sadly, “when you didn't want us any more, we had to come to the land of toys. But now we've also been captured by robot.”
Ken regrets what he has done to his toys.
“I'm really sorry.” He says. “We must all escape. Then you can come home with me again.”
When they hear this, the toys dance with joy. Ken and his toys run fast to escape.
But robot and his gang have guessed their plan.
“Hey, they're getting away,” yell robot and the guards and they start chasing after Ken and his toys. Just then, Ken trips over a ball and falls to the ground. His toys come tumbling after him. Suddenly, a huge lion appears in front of them. Ken and his toys fall back in surprise. The lion opens his huge red mouth.
“I am the supreme ruler of the land of toys, no toy leaves without my permission.” The lion roars. “Where do you think you are going?”
“These toys are mine, and I'm taking them home,” replies Ken.
The lion thinks for a while, then he holds up a big, red, magic toy box.
“You were bored with your old toys just a while ago,” says the lion, “Perhaps if I offer you this magic box, full of exciting new toys, you will leave your old toys here.”
“That sounds good,” says Ken. Then he looks back at his old toys and sees the sad look on their faces. Although they are not new toys, they are still fun to play with.
“I don't want your toy box,” says Ken, with determination. “I want my own toys. And this time, I'm going to look after them.”
“Thank you, Ken,” cheer the toys.
“Now we won't have to stay in the land of toys any longer.”
The lion realizes that he has to let all the toys go, because they aren't unwanted anymore.
“Let's all go home together,” says Ken.
He loads his toys into the toy cart and climbs in.
“Take good care of your toys from now on,” warns the lion, “or you know what will happen.”
“Don't worry, I will,” laughs Ken.
They all cheer as the toy cart sets off at full speed.
Next morning. Ken wakes up in his bed. He is happy to find all his toys around him.
“What a strange dream,” he thinks.
But then he notices smudges of red paint on his fingertips. He remembers painting the red toy car in the land of toys. So it wasn't a dream after all.
