Thai means freedom in the local language - Thailand means the free land or the land of freedom.
The first name change was in 1939, from Siam to Thailand, then in 1945, it was changed back to Siam.
It was a complicated history of Thailand.

There is a very thin line between ego and self respect. Many people go to extremes with these two glaring words, not knowing the differences.
I have a simple analogy:If you have 100 billion dolloars, but you don't want your life to be known to the genearl public. You choose to keep it down low by staying away from all publicity. That's not ego. That's self awareness, and maybe self respect too.
If all your fortuen is 10,000 dolors, but you are so proud of yourself and your money that you refuse to talk to anyone richer than you. Well, that's ego, and good luck with your 10,000 and bloody fat ego. Bye.
If Fuolao announces that he will not participate in the Nobel Prize in Literature from this year, will the Nobel Prize committee cry?
