不论你是否喜欢美国乡村音乐（country music），你肯定听过那首Take me home, country roads吧。
今天是John Denver去世25周年纪念日（1997年10月12日），我们来聊聊这位美国乡村音乐巨星。
John
Denver是他的艺名，本名叫 Henry John Deutschendorf
Jr.，因为他最喜欢的州是Colorado，就选了科罗拉多州最大的城市和首府丹佛(Denver）作为自己的stage name.
（为行文之便，下文统一称John Denver为丹佛。）
丹佛一生共发行了33个专辑，300多首歌，大多数是他的原创，但他最著名的这首Take Me Home, Country Roads. 却不是他自己写的。
这首歌的词曲原作者是Bill Danoff和他妻子Taffy Nivert Danoff，最早是为Johnny Cash创作的。（Johnny Cash是另一位美国乡村音乐巨匠，之前讲过。）
这两口子写这首歌的灵感来自他们的家乡马里兰州(Maryland）蜿蜒的乡间小路，但是Maryland这个词只有三个音节，跟歌词开头的almost
heaven（四个音节）不搭，所以后来才把第二句歌词改成了West
Virginia，尽管这俩人包括丹佛都跟西弗吉尼亚州没有关系。纯粹是为了歌词的修辞。

丹佛的嗓音很清澈，我每次听到他就会想到中国的盲人民谣歌手周云蓬。声音有相似处，歌词风格也有接近的地方。音乐无国界，大概人们对故乡这东西的情感也是想通的吧——每个人心中都有回不去的故乡。
