The Great Frost of Europe
The Great Frost Europe refers to the extraordinarily cold winter in Europe in 1708–1709.
On the night of 5 January 1709, temperature dropped to a record low: −15°C (5°F) .
The chilling temperature killed thousands on that night and caused a famine in France that eventually caused the demise of 600,000 more people by the end of 1710.
