Great Sentences 033:

During the war, the lie most effective with the whole of the German people was the slogan of "the battle of destiny for the German people," which made self-deception easier on three counts:
it suggested,
first, that the war was no war;
second, that it was started by destiny and not by Germany;
and, third,
that it was a matter of life and death for the Germans, who must annihilate their enemies or be annihilated.
- Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on The Banality of Evil, by Hannah Arendt

My reflections
Throughout history, every warmonger had used the same three excuses to start a war:
it's no war (we are helping them; it's only a special military operation; they are Nazis.)
they started it;
if we don't kill them, they'll kill us.
A war won't be over unless the machine of disinformation stops manufacturing and feeding lies to its people.
A war won’t be over unless innocent people refuse to fight.
