Below are three of many short passages I had jotted down quickly at those moments when life made me feel not absurd but funny, like sketches for a painter or snapshots for a photographer.
Life should be simple but is made complex.
Life can be long but always appears short.
Life is created noble but botched as menial.
Life is meant to be meaningful but lived by many as trivial.
Life is ugly and absurd but I take it as funny and comical.
Who has a happier life? A dictator or a tortoise?
I ask my cat; she replies "mule (meow)".
01 Life Insurance
Our life insurance agent called.
Isn’t life insurance a funny thing?
I mean the name and the concept itself — I pay someone (a company) a sum of money for many years while I am alive, and someone (the company) pays me back after I die.
Oh, I get it. Maybe that’s why my wife has been paying my insurance premium for me.
Life insurance ensures not your life but your death, doesn't it?
02 Killing
While watching a crime movie, my wife asked me, “Have you ever thought about killing someone?”
I thought for a moment and replied, “Had all my childhood dreams come true, there would’ve been 1 million people less on our planet today.”
03 Passion
Crime of passion is a funny term — most people don’t even have the passion for living their lives.
