英文中的一些日常用语，完全不能相信表面的意思，比如说，如果听见有人说kiss-me-quick，可不是让你“快吻我”，而是花名三色堇；kiss-me-at-the-gate也不是“在大门口吻我”，而是忍冬，也就是金银花...今天，就学一些看似与kiss有关，但其实毫无关系的短语吧，不然理解错意思可就尴尬了~
kissing cousins

“kissing cousins” 诞生在有大家庭传统的美国南部，这个用语的本意是：在大家庭团聚的时候，关系近到可以在见面时相互亲吻的任何亲戚。
不过从40年代开始，这个短语有了新的含义，人们用它来形容“比较相近的事物”。

Each company puts out cars in different models with different names and prices. But inside they are really kissing cousins: most of the parts are the same no matter what the name.
每一家公司都生产很多种类型、牌名、以及价格各不相同的汽车。但是从内部基本结构上看，这些汽车大同小异。不管汽车是什么牌子，它们的大部分零部件完全一样。
kiss and tell

“kiss and tell”可不是“那你亲我一口我就告诉你”的意思，这个用语可跟kiss没什么关系，它表示的是“在知道或参与一些（应该保密的）秘密和私人的事情后，告诉了其他人”。
to tell others about something that was supposed to remain private between the teller and another party, usually in order to gossip or brag about it
把本应在说话人和另一方之间保密的事情告诉别人，通常是为了八卦或吹嘘

To be honest, I try not to include Jane in these meetings because she has a tendency to kiss and tell when she's privy to sensitive details.

“kiss up”就是通过各种方式从上司或其他重要人物那里获得恩惠和好处。比如说，常见的方式包括阿谀奉承、溜须拍马、当差跑腿、有呼必应、以及对上司唯唯诺诺。

Nobody liked Jake because he spent all his time trying to kiss up to our boss.
没有人喜欢杰克，因为他无时无刻不在努力讨好上司。
