My older brother Alex is very musically gifted (he has a natural talent for music). He can play any tune from memory, without looking at sheet music (musical notation written on paper). He spends all his free time strumming a guitar (playing a guitar), composing music (creating music), and writing song lyrics (the words to a song). 我哥哥亚历克斯很有音乐天赋（他有音乐天赋）。他可以凭记忆演奏任何曲子，而不需要看乐谱（写在纸上的乐谱）。他把所有的空闲时间都花在弹吉他、作曲和写歌词上。
Alex and his friends formed a band that has attracted a sizable following (a lot of fans) in our city. They started out playing gigs (giving small, informal performances) in bars and clubs, and they used the money they earned to record their debut album (record their first CD). Alex和他的朋友组成了一个乐队，在我们的城市吸引了相当多的追随者（很多粉丝）。他们一开始是在酒吧和俱乐部举行小型非正式演出，然后用赚来的钱录制了他们的首张专辑。
