1、譬如爱国主义,在我共产主义的旧中国,还真没有看到小学生每天唱一遍“Over the land of free, and the home of the brave”或“God save our land, glory and free”,在如此高密度的洗脑下,社会中每个有理想、有志向的好孩子,都会认为自己的士兵在伊拉克、阿富汗、在世界各地,是为了自由而战,是最可爱的人;却完全忘了“the home of the brave”是指在自己的家,不是到别人家里去“BRAVE”,那叫BULLY!

Canadians can’t afford price of justice Published On Sun Feb 15 2009
By Angelo Persichilli Political Columnist
When provincial NDP Leader Howard Hampton says the $23.4 million the Ontario government spent on outside lawyers and consultants for a corruption case related to its real estate agency is "simply money blown out the door," he is right.
However, he is wrong when he blames Dalton McGuinty’s government. Queen’s Park had a duty to pursue the fight against corruption. Had the government stopped the legal proceedings, I’m pretty sure we would now have the NDP accusing the government of colluding with corruption.
Given the legal quagmire we live in, there is no middle way. You either give up and allow the abuse, or you put up a fight and spend such a huge amount of money on lawyers that the fight seems pointless. It’s a lose-lose situation for politicians and taxpayers, and a win-win situation for lawyers and for crooks with money – because the issue is all about money, not justice.
Let me elaborate.
Two of the most important rights that should be guaranteed to every citizen are access to the health-care and justice systems.
Unfortunately, while we all enjoy a basic medicare system, justice is still just an aspiration for most of us. There are only two groups of people who can enjoy it: the rich because they have money and the very poor because they have legal aid. For most Canadians, justice is like a Ferrari: You can have it if you sell the house.
When former prime minister Brian Mulroney felt unjustly targeted by the RCMP, he fought and he won. Do you think that if he didn’t have the $2 million for the legal fees he would have had any chance to win the case? Yes, he got the money back, but only after his lawyers were able to defend him.
At the other extreme, we had to pay millions of dollars to provide top lawyers to defend Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo.
In the middle are the majority of Canadians like you and me who are neither rich nor poor. For us, justice is only an aspiration because we don’t have the money to get through the convoluted legal system that seems to have been built to help lawyers make money.
Someone told me he believed he was unfairly overcharged $5,000 by Revenue Canada. He went to a lawyer who told him that he could win the case but there was no guarantee. Furthermore, the legal bill could go over $5,000. Basically, he was told, "If you don’t have money to gamble, pay and shut up." He paid. At the same time, we have many corporations that, with the help of good lawyers, challenge Revenue Canada and many are able to slash their payments by millions.
There are companies that have more lawyers than managers to protect them from possible legal nightmares. They succeed in that, but entrepreneurship suffers and the only people left unprotected are the majority of Canadians. Every day we sign papers with fine print even to buy an extension cord in an electronics store. You can rest assured that the fine print is not there to protect the customers.
But even if we stay away from lawyers, we receive hefty bills from them via governments.
Do you remember the Gomery inquiry? It spent almost $90 million to find out what happened to $60 million. In the end, only $3 million was recovered and the only people arrested were those charged by the RCMP. There are many other examples. The legal system is failing Canadians twice: We pay millions of dollars to run it and in return most of us cannot afford to use it when we need it.
If Hampton believes, rightly, that $23.4 million in taxpayers’ money to fight a corruption case is "simply money blown out the door," he and McGuinty should start working together to make the justice system less convoluted and more accessible.
Everyone may be equal before the law, but justice comes only if you have money. ★★★★★ ★★★★★

Stormy Skies for Canada’s Middle Class By Ken Lewenza | The Mark News – Sat, 11 Jun, 2011
The Canadian middle class is in crisis. Each year, its share of our national income shrinks, relative to that of the richest few. Recent reports show Canada’s wealthiest one per cent accounted for 32 per cent of all income growth between 1997 and 2007 – the most in recorded history. Thanks to skyrocketing executive compensation levels and an aggressive attack on well-paid, family-supporting jobs, the gap between the rich and the rest of us grows ever wider.

Riots erupt in Vancouver after Canucks loss Dozens injured amid scenes of violence, looting CBC News Posted: Jun 15, 2011 7:54 PM PT Last Updated: Jun 16, 2011 2:32 AM PT
Riot police fired tear gas, pepper spray and flash bombs in downtown Vancouver Wednesday night to try to disperse angry rioters who set cars on fire, looted stores and taunted police officers after the Canucks’ 4-0 Stanley Cup final loss to the Boston Bruins.
Police declared the downtown fan zone area near the CBC building and the central post office a riot zone. Anyone not leaving the West Georgia Street area immediately could be arrested, they warned.
Police used batons and also turned police dogs on the rioters, slowly pushing the crowd back along Georgia Street from Hamilton Street to Cambie Street.
Two police cars were set on fire in a parking lot on Cambie Street near one of the areas where police were being confronted by a few dozen people among the hundreds present who were throwing debris at officers.
Most people who stayed in the riot areas were watching the confrontation, while a few young men who covered their faces were confronting police.
"You don’t ever hope for a situation like this," said Vancouver police Const. Jana McGuinness.
"You celebrate the good times and you prepare for the bad times and that’s exactly what we’ve done. Unfortunately, the tables have turned tonight."
In addition to the riot police, officers were also called in from several neighbouring departments to help control the unruly crowd.
Vancouver fire department Capt. Gabe Roder said it was not clear how many fires had been set. Fire crews were instructed to leave the downtown core by police, and the department made a decision early in the evening to respond to fires only where the public was in danger.
Under Sections 67-68 of the Criminal Code of Canada, a public official may read what’s colloquially called the "Riot Act" in order to disperse an unruly crowd:
"Her Majesty the Queen charges and commands all persons being assembled immediately to disperse and peaceably to depart to their habitations or to their lawful business on the pain of being guilty of an offence for which, on conviction, they may be sentenced to imprisonment for life."
People who do not "peaceably disperse" within 30 minutes are "guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for life."

People who do not "peaceably disperse" within 30 minutes are "guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for life." 30分钟内没有"和平地离开"的人就犯了一个可起诉的罪行,可被判终生监禁
多伦多不要成为“条规城市”(City of Rules),而要变为“快乐城市”(City of Fun)。
Posted Today, 02:15 AM Well in my opinion, we already live in a socialist country and already practice socialism. It’s just done in a ’less direct’ manor though.
We have communist hospitals here, in my province I have to go to a communist beer store to get beer.
I am not allowed to become an electrician. The gov’t decides who, how, and when someone gets a license.
Half of my money gets taken away from me involuntarily or I will lose my property at gun point and go to jail. It goes into the pockets of the communist ’red coats’ (civil servants).
I am told how I must act and behave for the ’social good’. I can’t go to a stream and go fishing without checking with our communist fishing authority saying where I can and can’t fish. This is for the social good.
I can’t go into a corner store and buy a damn can of beer in order to preserve the ’social good’ of our society.
I am not allowed to grow weed in the privacy of my OWN house (not that I want to but just an example) in order to protect the social commune.
I am not allowed to buy a pellet gun, take it home, and shoot that pesty squirrel that’s been chewing off branches from my tree. This is for the ’public good’. The commune. Big Brother tells me how to behave in the public good. Just like Big Brother here on the site just recently banned me AGAIN for 2 weeks for something that I can’t even remember what I did.
I am not allowed to take a cow, milk it, and simply sell the milk to my neighbor unless I go through the communist, red coat, milk cartel. If I don’t, I will be arrested and gun point and thrown in jail and lose my property. Just like in the Red Soviet Union.
I am not allowed to open a small burger joint, without big brother inspecting the property multiple times, telling me how to do it, how to design my ventilation and seating plans, setting up a million paper processes, and then driving my startup capital so high, that it’s no longer feasible to open a mom and pop restaurant and have it survive. Similar to Russia and Cuba. You could own a private business, but they really frowned upon that kind of initiative and set so many rules in the way, you wouldn’t open up shop.
I could go on and on but you get the point.
We live in a full blown socialist society in my opinion where everything is regulated. Your pay, your life, who your neighbor will be, what you are allowed to do. Etc.
The thing that people don’t understand or realize, is something called the ’police state’. We are already socialist, but the ’police state’ isn’t here yet. The last decade saw major strides in the police state and it’s growing and growing. With all the rules come enforcement. Lot’s of it. We are at the point now where if you try to drop a line and go fishing, big brother will be there to harras you and ticket you. They’ll find something to get you on. We’re at the point that every one of us on the forum is in some sort of ’violation’ or ’breaking a law’ in our home.
You see, the gov’t has legislated all of us into criminals or in violation of this or that. When this happens, it justifies a police state. Enforcement. THEN you will see how much like Russia we really are. You will see how the gov’t controls of all of us and it will be clear that we’re in a police state.
Speeding cameras, red light cameras, helicopters with infrared detection flying over homes to see if someone is growing weed in their house. Police on the side of the street hiding in bushes in known ’under posted’ speed zones so they can make criminals out of law abiding citizens who are simply trying to get to work. Park rangers inspecting your cooler at a camp sight and ticketing you when they find some beer and making your spill it out. Getting stopped on your boat and your whole boat being inspected for a few cans of beer and then asked for your boating license. You were just trying to enjoy your own land and waters and are getting harassed and shaken down. This never happened in the old days. Why so much now?
The police state is coming. Mark my words it’s slow, but with more of our decline, you will see an increase of the police state. More laws regulating how we are to live. Where we are to work. And what we are allowed to say. Even here on the forums we have people like Michael Harder who does nothing but patrol the forums and report people when he happens to dislike anything they say. He is policing the forums and taking away speech. He and Anthony determine what we are allowed to say like little children.
Socialism? It’s been here for a long time.
The Police State? It’s coming and happening slowly before your eyes. From all levels of gov’t, down to this forum. It’s an attitude. A way of being.
Posted 18 June 2011 - 08:36 AM Vancouvers riot was very similiar to the G20 but far more incited.
I have information I can’t digress but there were multiple organized forces at work on all sides. It was a staged demonstration and instance of social engineering.
The police imo really messed up in firing the gas canisters, for multiple reasons.
1. Starting a stampede in a packed city street put people at grave risk.
2. They police could have advanced with a moving barrier.
3. Police should have started on both ends in clearing people not one -- providing people a means of moving.
4. Police should have offered a protective service for some for example free public transportation - example buses to take people out of the center. (and protected or the APC’s they have...)
5. A 10 minute timespan was not sufficient. They needed to keep things calm instead they incited emotions.
IMO they wanted it to happen and the govt was involved in its development.
I think overall they are using it as a pawn peice.
IMO duress and mob rage should mitigate non criminality of the occurence.
The real risk is that the riot act was read and so anyone who was present is potentially subject to life imprisionment.
A really sad day for the administration, as many steps could have been taking to reduce harm.
It is difficult in these circumstances to know what really happened, and that is concerning.
And yes most definately cars and windows are a target so why wern’t cars removed? And why wasn’t a safety lane kept clear, and why wern’t the barriers put infront of windows and locked together. Instead you have barriers that can be used to crush bystandards or police in the event of a human stampede.
The situation was grossly engineered and desired imo.
Of course we hear next to nothing about injuries or arrests.. it is black out more or less.
100 people atleast were arrested if they get real jail time (rioting holds a potential life sentence if the riot act is read which it was) then that is atleat 5 million dollars a year for those 100 people.
Also the jail time = the whole facebook reporting phenomenon is aother social engineering spur getting people to narc on people.
Fact is that photos can be photoshoped so to can videos.
It is a quagmire of policing that was water thrown down by the administrators.
Two other points.
1. What happened to all the security city spending from the olympics.. still ineffective to prevent a mass riot?
2. Why let schools out early.
Many little why’d that happen contexts are at play and it is clear that this was a broad attempt at potential civil risk.
If a riot was likely then why wasn’t the reserve called up? Was it, what side were they on?
It is absolute idiocy. I stayed up and watched the game cause I was currious on the riot news.. and sure enough.
If you’re eating non-organic celery today, you may be ingesting 67 pesticides with it, according to a new report from the Environmental Working Group.
The group, a nonprofit focused on public health, scoured nearly 100,000 produce pesticide reports from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to determine what fruits and vegetables we eat have the highest, and lowest, amounts of chemical residue.
Most alarming are the fruits and vegetables dubbed the "Dirty Dozen," which contain 47 to 67 pesticides per serving. These foods are believed to be most susceptible because they have soft skin that tends to absorb more pesticides.
"It’s critical people know what they are consuming," the Environmental Working Group’s Amy Rosenthal said. "The list is based on pesticide tests conducted after the produce was washed with USDA high-power pressure water system. The numbers reflect the closest thing to what consumers are buying at the store."
The group suggests limiting consumption of pesticides by purchasing organic for the 12 fruits and vegetables.
"You can reduce your exposure to pesticides by up to 80 percent by buying the organic version of the Dirty Dozen," Rosenthal said.
The Dirty Dozen Celery Peaches Strawberries Apples Domestic blueberries Nectarines Sweet bell peppers Spinach, kale and collard greens Cherries Potatoes Imported grapes Lettuce
Not all non-organic fruits and vegetables have a high pesticide level. Some produce has a strong outer layer that provides a defense against pesticide contamination. The group found a number of non-organic fruits and vegetables dubbed the "Clean 15" that contained little to no pesticides.
A pesticide is a mixture of chemical substances used on farms to destroy or prevent pests, diseases and weeds from affecting crops. According to the USDA, 45 percent of the world’s crops are lost to damage or spoilage, so many farmers count on pesticides.
The Environmental Protection Agency, the FDA and the USDA work together to monitor and set limits as to how much pesticide can be used on farms and how much is safe to remain on the produce once it hits grocery store shelves.

“Well, good luck on Saturday.”
These were the five words Sean Salvati cheekily uttered to two RCMP officers on June 23, 2010, three days before the G20 summit. And with that one sentence, what had been a fun evening of friends and Blue Jays baseball quickly became a hellish 11-hour ordeal in which Salvati claims he was arrested, strip-searched, beaten, denied access to a lawyer and left naked in a cell for nearly an hour.
In one video, Salvati is shown being led from an interrogation room by three officers and escorted naked past a female officer.
Salvati also alleges he was beaten while officers forcibly strip-searched him.
“One of the officers grabbed the neck and began punching me,” Salvati said in an interview with the Star Thursday. “(He) mentioned something about ‘These are your rights.’ You know? Like: ‘You think you have rights? These are your rights.’
“And I just started screaming.”
Salvati, a 33-year-old licensed paralegal, claims he was an innocent victim caught up in the G20’s overzealous security effort. The charge that allegedly got him thrown in jail — Salvati was pulled from a cab and arrested for public intoxication — was never filed in court.
“You just never imagine when you go about your daily life that this is the kind of thing that could happen to you when you’ve done nothing wrong,” said lawyer Paul Quick, who is representing Salvati along with Murray Klippenstein. “And Sean hasn’t done anything wrong.”
In his court filing, Salvati claims he and his friends encountered several police officers on the evening of June 23 and were intrigued by the robust security in downtown Toronto, stopping several times to chat and even take pictures with officers.
At the end of the night, while trying to hail a cab, Salvati said he encountered two female RCMP officers and tried to engage them in conversation, too. He said the officers ignored him, prompting Salvati to say they should be more polite because taxpayers are paying for their overtime.
A full year has passed since the G20 summit, but Salvati still has no answers for why this happened to him.

Food insecurity among Inuit preschoolers: Nunavut Inuit Child Health Survey, 2007–2008 Grace M. Egeland PhD, Angela Pacey MSc, Zirong Cao MSc, Isaac Sobol MHSc MD @@ See related research article by Luo and colleagues and related commentary by Cunningham
Abstract
Background: Food security (i.e., a condition in which all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life) has been noted to be lower in indigenous communities in Canada. We investigated the prevalence of inadequate food security, or food insecurity, among Inuit households with preschool children. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional survey of the health status of 388 randomly selected Inuit children aged three to five years in 16 Nunavut communities during the period from 2007 to 2008. From the survey data, we classified levels of food insecurity specifically among children. We also classified levels of overall food insecurity of the household of each child. We calculated the weighted prevalence of levels of child food insecurity and of household food insecurity. Results: Nearly 70% of Inuit preschoolers resided in households rated as food insecure (69.6%; 95% confidence interval [CI] 64.7%–74.6%). Overall, 31.0% of children were moderately food insecure, and 25.1% were severely food insecure, with a weighted prevalence of child food insecurity of 56.1% (95% CI 51.0%–61.3%). Primary caregivers in households in which children were severely food insecure reported experiencing times in the past year when their children skipped meals (75.8%), went hungry (90.4%) or did not eat for a whole day (60.1%). Primary caregivers in households in which children were moderately food insecure reported experiencing times in the past year when they worried food would run out (85.1%), when they fed their children less expensive food (95.1%) and when their children did not eat enough because there was no money for food (64.3%). Interpretation: We observed a high prevalence of household food insecurity, with a substantial proportion of children with severely food insecure status. Interventions are needed to ensure a healthy start in life for Inuit preschoolers.

Oleg Bach is one of the few real intellectuals on the forum. I thought we can get his perspective on something.
So the question is this:
"Are you a victim of your own government in your life’s pursuit of happiness and liberty?"
This is in the context of living in this country, Canada, trying to be a citizen, and then basically being a victim of our government oppressing you.. robbing your purpose of life from you if you will.
The older I get, the more I begin to realize that this is what the gov’t does to citizens. Making paper criminals out of all of us. Keeping us afraid of them. Punishing us.
I juts wanted to hear your thoughts on this.. I’ll read every word you write.. I respect your opinion..
My education consists of two years in grade nine - then eloping with an heiress...I am not an intellectual. Just a person with a highly active mind that is highly judgemental and observant...I have been exposed to the lowest of the low - and to the lofty elite...that is my back ground...now to the question at hand.
Here is what I learned as a very young man regarding power - Governments really have no power - those that control the banks and judical system do have power. There is oppression in Canada and it comes from an old elite that is both cheap - controlling - racist and arrogant. I was attempting to move a screen play a decaded ago - little did I know that a family that I had supposedly offended in my youth - own all the companies - I was on a black list.
This sounds conspiratorial but it is not so far fetched - LOOK at it this way - This corporate family and their associates back 30 years ago were acquireing 30 companies per month...This hungry and on going acquistion of buisness continues to this day - Imagine if the same group of people took control of 30 companies a month over a 30 year period - we have in our society persons that own EVERYTHING....and the dots are unconnectable - As a young guy I had a problem in the courts - I went and spoke to a certain man....later the room was filled with Canadas most powerful lawyers - The judge set me free and the big shots were so livid they were foaming at the mouth.
What I figured out 30 years later was that visit to the man at his office caused my release from the grip of some real nasty persons...I gave him a belated thanks a few years ago - He laughed - This old lawyer simply called the old judge and said - send the boy on his way....I was told to `bow out gracefully` which I did...
So who controls the nation and it`s institutions - NOT the government - but an old established ruling class of people that hold the average human being in contempt....live with it my friends - cos this system is currently being re-staffed as the old guard leaves.
I am NOT a victim of any government other than the bureacrats at the tax department that out of spite crippled me finacially...I consider myself the government..with some rebelious and nasty small minded servants.
Chris Metcalfe
If you draw me out today,I ’ll let you out tomorrow.
Here is Canada,not China",否则真有好戏,(因为我亲眼看见住在我旁边的人因为被人打了,结果被关了17天,因为没有人交钱保释他.
I couldn’t care, so I will not care, but your next generation will add Canada fresh.
