By climate commitments that fall short.

And by ongoing conflict, division, and misinformation.
冲突持续不断、分裂状况严重、误导性信息泛滥
These are not just policy tests.
这些不仅仅是对政策的考验
These are moral and real-life tests.
也是对道德的考验和对现实生活的考验
这些考验不仅是政策制定者手中的难题，也与每个人的日常生活息息相关。因此要渡过难关，更需要每个人的决心。

新年献词话锋一转——人类可以战胜这些困难——只要一起。从疫情中复苏、经济重拾活力、科学精神的回归、群体关系的修复、地球自然面貌的复原等等都是身心紧张了两年的人们渴望的。
And they are tests that humanity can pass — if we commit to making 2022 a year of recovery for everyone.

观察一年前的关键词：遏制新冠病毒蔓延、处理气候变化、实现碳中和，似乎和今年差别不大。联合国的新年献词写作手法也容易琢磨：把关键词用非谓语的方式套到今年的主要议程之上。
Together, let’s make peace among ourselves and with nature, tackle the climate crisis, stop the spread of COVID-19, and make 2021 a year of healing.
