Argus Filch is a squib and the administrator of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He often lingered in the corridor of the school with Mrs Norris, trying to catch the students who violated the school rules, while complaining about the existence of Peeves, the mischievous ghost.
阿格斯·费尔奇是个哑炮，也是霍格沃茨魔法学校的管理员。他经常与洛丽丝夫人在学校的走廊中徘徊，一边试图抓住违反校规的学生，一边抱怨恶作剧幽灵皮皮鬼的存在。
The name Argus comes from a giant Argos with a hundred eyes in Greek mythology. In mythology, Argos was the guardian of the goddess Hera. "Filch" means "stealing" in English, and it usually means sneaking around.
“Argus”这个名字来自希腊神话中的一个百眼巨人阿耳戈斯。在神话中，阿耳戈斯是赫拉女神的守卫。“Filch”在英语中的意思是“窃取”，通常有偷偷摸摸的意思。
Very little information is known about Filch's early life. He was born into a wizarding family in England or Ireland, but he didn't show any signs of being able to use magic. Therefore, as a squib, he could not enter Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry .
与费尔奇早年生活相关的已知信息非常少。他出生于英国或爱尔兰的一个巫师家庭，却没有展现出任何能够使用魔法的迹象。因此作为哑炮，他无法进入霍格沃茨魔法学校学习。
Before 1978, Filch came to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, replacing Apollon Pringer as the administrator of the school. Since then, Filch has become the "sworn enemy" of Peeves, a mischievous student at school and a mischievous ghost.

He doesn't like the students in the school, and will find even the slightest sign of violating the school rules from them. He is happy to record the information about punishing students and store them in the wooden filing cabinet in his office.

At night, Filch often patrols the corridor, catching students who are wandering in the corridor without sleeping, and looking for excuses to put them in confinement.

It seems that he also feels pain and inferiority because he can't use magic. He even tried to learn to use magic through a fast chanting course in 1992. Ron Weasley also speculated that Filch hated students because he was a squib.

Lacking knowledge of magic, he could not tell the difference between potions. As a result, Filch was unable to distinguish the love potion disguised as perfume and cough potion sent from Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, nor did he notice that Madam Rosmerta's mead had been poisoned.

The only living thing Filch may have liked at Hogwarts Castle was his pet cat, Mrs. Norris. It was dark grey and had bulbous eyes like Filch's.

Like her host, Mrs. Norris had a very short temper when dealing with others. And there seemed to be a connection between him and Filch, who was always quick to get there when Mrs. Norris noticed someone breaking school rules.
和主人一样，洛丽丝夫人对待其他人时的脾气也非常暴躁。而且它和费尔奇之间似乎也存在着某种联系，因为每当洛丽丝夫人发现有人违反校规，费尔奇总是能很快赶到。
Filch liked to talk to it, and called it "my darling." After Mrs. Norris was petrified by the Slytherin basilisk, Filch's mood became very low and he vowed to catch the culprit.
费尔奇喜欢和它说话，把它称作“我亲爱的”。在洛丽丝夫人被斯莱特林的蛇怪石化之后，费尔奇的心情变得十分低落，发誓要抓住罪魁祸首。
Harry Potter once speculated about a secret love affair between Filch and the librarian, Irma Piss. Although it may have been a joke, they did stand together at Albus Dumbledore's funeral.
