Today is D-Day
It commemorates June 6, 1944, when the allied troops landed
on the beaches of Normandy, France, during WWII against the Nazi army.

Why is it called the D-Day?
According to The National World War II Museum,
D stands for “departed date,” meaning the date an operation began.
