Marcel Proust ((/pruːst/), the French novelist best known for his 3,000-page masterpiece "À la recherche du temps perdu" (Remembrance of Things Past or In Search of Lost Time), died at age 51.
In Search of Lost Time是1992年企鹅出版社英语译本的书名。最早的1934年英译本书名本来是 “Remembrance of Things Past”，所以根据这个英文译名过去的汉译本旧名叫《追忆似水年华》。
最新的汉译本书名改为了更贴近法语原文的《追寻逝去的时光》，译者是华东师大的翻译家周克希老师。
这本书，应该说这套书，太大部头了，太长了，全世界有很多人想读这套书，但截至目前我还不认识一个读完过这套书的人，一个都没有。有人专门为此做了个网站：

关于很少有人读完过这套书这件事，有一位专门研究普鲁斯特的文学教授是这样说的：
