01、honest mistake
和别人道歉或解释时，我们可能常说：我真不是故意的，不是有意的。而这种情况下，老外会说：It's an honest mistake. 意思就是：我真不是故意的，无心之失啊。

make no mistake 这个短语听起来有点 bossy（专横的），但其实它的意思并不是“不许犯错”，毕竟人非圣贤，孰能无过呢。make no mistake (about it) 这个短语的真正意思是“没有半点怀疑，完全可以肯定”。
Make no mistake, this decision is going to cause you a lot of problems.
毫无疑问，这个决定会给你带来许多问题。
明明近视还总不原意戴眼镜的C姐经常会 mistake sb/sth for sb/sth，“把…误认为...”。
I often mistake her for her mother on the phone.

03、mistake 的同义词
mistake 的同义词有 fault 和 error，那这三个单词都有什么区别呢？
mistake 指的是“错误，过失”，指行为、看法、言辞等方面的错误；mistake 可也以做动词使用，意思是“误认，错误辨认”；
I mistook your signature and thought the letter was from someone else.
我把你的签名认错了，以为信是别人寄来的。
fault 在表示“（机器或系统的）毛病，故障，缺陷”和“缺点；弱点”时为可数名词；表示“过错，过失；责任”时为不可数名词。而且，fault 也可以做动词使用，意思是“找…的缺点，挑剔；指责”。
For all the faults in our education system, it is still better than that in many other countries.
尽管存在种种缺陷，我们的教育系统仍然比其他许多国家的要好。

而 error 是纯粹的名词，指的是“错误；谬误；差错”，它可指任何错误，包括笔误、印刷错误或计算错误，常可与 mistake 换用。

像做脑部外科手术这样精细的事情，容不得半点差错。
04、动词短语
find fault with sb/sth 是个C2水平词汇，意思是“找…的茬，挑…的毛病”。
He's always finding fault with my work.
他总是挑我工作上的毛病。
“判断失误”的英语说法是：error of judgment
Not telling the staff before they read the news in the papers was an error of judgment.
没有在员工看到报上的消息前告诉他们实情是个判断失误。
see the error of your ways 的意思是“知错就改；意识到自己的做法错误而开始改正”，当然也可以说 see the error of his/her/their/my ways.
