But now things are starting to turn around – I’ve been pleasantly surprised at all the help we’ve gotten from our friends and neighbors. 但现在情况开始好转了——我对我们从朋友和邻居那里得到的所有帮助感到又惊又喜。
I’m just immensely grateful that my wife and son are healthy, and sometimes I’m overwhelmed with emotion as I reflect on how lucky we are (when emotion is so strong that it’s difficult to think or speak). 我非常感激我的妻子和儿子都很健康，有时想到我们是多么的幸运，我的情绪就非常复杂。（当情绪如此强烈以至于难以思考或说话时）。

I recently spent a month on vacation – but instead of staying in a hotel, I looked for a short-term rental (a place to live that can be rented for a short period of time). I ended up sharing a two-bedroom apartment – that’s an apartment with two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen – with some friends. It was actually cheaper than renting a studio apartment (an apartment with only one big room) all by myself. 我最近花了一个月时间度假—但不是住在酒店，我找了一个短期出租的地方（一个可以租用很短的时间居住的地方）。但是最终我和几个朋友合租了一套两居室公寓，也就是有两间卧室、一个客厅和一个厨房的公寓。这实际上比我一个人租一个单间公寓（只有一个大房间的公寓）要便宜。
The apartment was on the top floor of a five-story building (that’s a building with five floors) and it had a balcony overlooking the ocean (that means you can see the ocean from the balcony). 公寓在一栋五层楼的建筑顶层（那是指有五层楼的建筑），而且它有一个阳台，可以俯瞰大海（也就是说从阳台上就可以看到大海）。
