恶化。
🚩worsen是“使变得更坏，更糟，使恶化”，柯林斯解释为If a bad situation worsens or if something worsens it, it becomes more difficult, unpleasant, or unacceptable.。
如：
The security forces had to intervene to prevent the situation worsening.安全部队不得不介入，以防止局势进一步恶化。
These options would actually worsen the economy and add to the deficit.这些选择实际上只会造成经济形势更加恶化，赤字愈见增加。
They remain stranded in freezing weather and rapidly worsening conditions. 他们仍然被困着，天气严寒，情况迅速恶化。
🚩deteriorate是“在质量或者条件方面变坏，变质，恶化”，牛津词典解释为become worse in quality or condition。worsen和deteriorate在许多情况下都可以通用，如someone’s health/ a situation/ conditions/ the weather/ a relationship worsen(s)/ deteriorate(s)。但是worsen常常指特定问题恶化，与problem，crisis，position和symptom等可数名词搭配，比如我们不说Her symptoms have deteriorated considerably。deteriorate常常用于一般的事情，与life，work，behaviour，moral和quality等不可数名词搭配，还可以用于短语something deteriorates into something。

🚩degenerate是“指体力或者精神衰退，恶化，堕落，变糟”，牛津解释为pass into a worse physical, mental or moral state than one which is considered normal or desirable。degenerate常用于短语degenerate into something，常见的搭配有degenerate into a conflict/ a riot/ a battle/ chaos/ violence/ a farce/ a brawl（演变为一场冲突、暴动、战斗、混乱、暴力事件、闹剧、斗殴事件）。
如：
