【为什么英语单词词组都看得懂、语法也都了解，但是英文文章（好几千词的那种）读起来还是那么累？】好几千的词汇量并不足以让我们流畅地阅读英语文章，词汇量与阅读的关系大概如下图：
对号入座吧，按题主的描述，词汇量大概在5000左右？一页A4纸的文章，生词出现不应超过5个，否则，读起来就会有困惑感！比如这么一段话：1. But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm thresholdwhich leads into the palace of justice:•In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds.•Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.
如果我们对其中黑体的单词或词组"warm threshold", "be guilty of" 的意思不大明白，这段话阅读起来就会感觉的胸闷。threshold 是“门槛；门口”的意思，the warm threshold, "温和的门槛”？在英语里，这样的表述习惯挺多的，再如：2.The old man lay all night on his sleepless bed. 3. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.sleepless bed: 不眠的床？(老人整夜躺在他的不眠的床上？）a candid world：坦诚的世界？（为了证明，现把事实提交给一个坦诚的世界？）
其实，人家说的是：2.The old man lay all night on his sleepless bed. 老人躺在床上，彻夜未眠。3. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.为了证明所言属实，现把下列事实向世界坦诚相告。这样阅读起来，才不胸闷，才会神清气爽！前面那段话说的是：1. But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm thresholdwhich leads into the palace of justice: 但我有些话要对大家说，我们正站在通往正义殿堂的门口， 要表现得温和友好，•In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. 在我们争取合法地位的过程中， 不能有非法行为而造成的过失，•Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.我们力图去满足对自由的渴望，但不能通过喝杯苦涩与仇恨的酒来解渴。“be guilty of”：有过失的，如：We've all been guilty of selfishness at some time in our lives.我们每个人一生中都有过自私自利的过失。
