The More The Merrier!
You can say this to show that you are happy when more people are going to
join in an activity. Many people use this phrase regarding activities in which
there might be a limit on the number of people who can participate – so “the
more the merrier” expresses the idea that it’s OK if additional people join.
你可以说这句话来表示当更多的人参加某项活动时你很高兴。当人们提及这个活动是否有人数限制时，许多人就用这个表达表示再多点人也是可以的。
A: Is it OK if my nieces and nephews come to your son’s party?
我侄子侄女可以来参加你儿子的聚会吗?
B: Of course – the more the merrier! Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of cake
for everyone.
当然，人多热闹嘛。不用担心，我们会为大家准备很多蛋糕的。
