The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge (Japanese: 明石海峡大橋, Akashi Kaikyō Ōhashi) opened to traffic, becoming the world's longest suspension bridge(悬索桥、吊桥).
It links the city of Kobe (神户) on the Japanese island of Honshu (九州) to Iwaya on Awaji Island (淡路岛).
If you are in Kobe someday, remember to take the local train to 西明石 (3 or 4 stops from Sannomiya Kobe 神户三宫町) before dusk.
Get off, walk 1 minute to the seashore, and you will see the most beautiful sunset in Japan.
Today is National Library Workers Day (in the U.S.), the Tuesday of National Library Week (Apr 3-9, 2022).
How nice is it to have a whole week dedicated to the library!
The day recognizes the importance and contributions of the library staff who keep our libraries running.
National Library Week occurs in April, which is School Library Month.
National Library Workers Day, National Bookmobile Day, and Support Teen Literature Day (Thursday of the week) all occur during National Library Week.
The theme for National Library Week 2022, “Connect with Your Library,” promotes the idea that libraries are places to get connected to technology by using broadband, computers, and other resources.
