对于“小镇做题家”这一热词，英国《经济学人》杂志给出的英文是 “small-town swot”：
英语单词 swot /swɑːt/ 的英文释义：an insignificant student who is ridiculed as being affected or studying excessively（被嘲笑为受到影响或过度学习的无足轻重的学生），中文含义为“苦读的人；努力工作者；辛苦的工作”。

但 swot 一词实际上含有一定的贬义色彩，并不能完全表达出“小镇做题家”的中文内涵，个人不是很喜欢这个翻译。虽然小镇做题家代表了无数拼命刷题的学生，但未必就是书呆子。
关于小镇做题家，也可以翻译为：exam experts from small town，来自小镇的考试高手（行家）。
