电影《燃烧》里李宗秀问：“要怎么做才能年纪轻轻就过上那种生活，悠闲地到处旅行，开着保时捷不知在干什么，却很有钱的、谜一般的年轻人。”
贫苦出身逆袭，命运可以被改变的故事变得越来越不流行，现在人们对“old money”的关注和艳羡能达到什么程度，几天前刚刚在抖音上演一轮。电影的问题我没有答案，不过，既然有时间在网上口嗨玩梗，不妨也来学多一些与money有关的英语表达吧。
almighty

the Almighty 在英语中特指“上帝”，而当 almighty 做形容词时，意思是 (of God) having the power to do everything，“（上帝）全能的，万能的，有无限权力的”。
不过显然还有一个存在，也可以使用almighty来形容，the almighty dollar 万能的金钱。
We use the expression the almighty dollar to communicate that making money is more important than anything else. 我们用 the almighty dollar 这个习惯用语来表达赚钱比什么都重要。
🌰举个例子
Bill was a slave to the almighty dollar.
比尔是万能的金钱的奴隶。
In the eyes of these massive corporations, the rights and well-being of workers always come second to the almighty dollar.
在这些大公司眼里，工人的权利和福祉总是排在万能的美元之后。
throw money at

谁又没做过能随便“砸钱”的梦呢~ throw money at something 这个习语的正确意思是指因为相信只有钱才能解决问题，所以“在没有真正计划的情况下，不惜血本来解决某事”。
🌰举个例子
We won't solve this problem by throwing money at it.
我们不能靠砸钱来解决这个问题。
Many people agree that throwing money at our schools has not produced good results.
许多人都认为向学校砸钱并没有产生好的效果。
jack up

Jack（首字母大写）是个很常见的英文名字。不过除了作为名字之外，jack 还可以指一种很常用的汽修用具：“起重器，千斤顶”。所以 the use of a jack 的意思不是杰克的使用方法，而是使用千斤顶，因为 j 没有大写
。jack up 可以用来指被千斤顶顶起来，不过同样常用的还有另一层意思，指前阵子大家都经历过的“突然大幅地提高价格”。
🌰举个例子
Once the tourists arrive, the restaurants jack up their prices.
游客一到，餐馆就大幅提价。
peanuts

peanut是花生，在中文中花生可以寓意为“富贵多子，好事发生”，不过在英语中，复数形式的 peanuts 却没有什么好寓意，在口语中指的是 something so small it is not worth considering, especially an amount of money，“无甚价值之物，（尤指）一小笔钱”。
🌰举个例子
They pay people peanuts in that organization.
那家机构给的酬金微不足道。
I had a few jobs during college working for peanuts, but it was the only work I could get that fit in with my schedule.
大学期间我做过几份薪水微薄的工作，但这是我能找到的唯一一份能与我的时间表相匹配的工作。
live beyond one's means

你知道多少种可以表示“金钱，财富”的单词呢？money、funds、property、riches、income、fortune、wealth、means......
means 除了是“方法，手段”的意思，还可以指“金钱；财富；财力；收入”。
live beyond your means 指的是入不敷出；
live within your means 则是量入为出；
a man/woman of means 意思是富有的男人／女人。
🌰举个例子
You need to start living within your means and avoid making so many frivolous purchases.
你需要开始量入为出，避免买那么多无聊的东西。
If you keep living beyond your means, you'll deplete your bank account before you know it.
如果你继续入不敷出，不知不觉间你的银行存款就会花光。
nest egg

nest egg 指的是我们每个人都需要的“备用的钱；储备金”。
🌰举个例子
People accumulate a little nest egg, settle themselves down and think that they need not make any additional effort.
人们积攒了一点积蓄，安顿下来，认为自己不需要再做任何额外的努力。
