在追《狂飙》的时候，我就已经认识了到了无孔不入的 spoiler 的威力，看来这次又要连夜追剧了......
今天我们来认识一下与“反转”有关的英语都该怎么表达吧~

电影、书、剧等的“故事情节”用英语翻译是 plot，而反转则是我们之前已经学过的单词 twist，所以“剧情反转”用英语就是：
There's an unexpected twist in/to the plot towards the end of the film.
电影结尾部分的情节出人意料。
之前的学习中，我们认识的是 twist 作为动词时的用法，而 twist 也可以作为名词来使用，表示“变化；转折；改变”的意思。
🌰举个例子
The story took a surprise twist today with media reports that the doctor had resigned.
媒体报道该医生已经辞职，从而使事情在今天有了惊人的转折。
But for a cruel twist of fate/fortune, he could now be running his own business.
要不是时运不济，他现在可能正在经营自己的公司了。

turn 这个单词我们都太熟悉，那 turn of events 这个词组呢？turn of events 其实是个C2水平的词组，意思指的是“事态的变化”，它多用来形容某件事或某种情况下的反转和转折，比如：
an unexpected/strange/dramatic turn of events
事态意想不到／奇特／戏剧性的变化

reverse 是个C1词汇，意思是“（使）反向；（使）倒转；彻底改变；推翻”。
🌰举个例子
The new manager hoped to reverse the decline in the company's fortunes.
新经理希望能够扭转公司江河日下的状况。
Now that you have a job and I don't, our situations are reversed.
你找到了工作，我倒没有工作了，我们的情况正好掉了个儿。
reverse 是个动词，但 the reverse 则个名词，指的是“相反的情况（或事物）；对立面”。
🌰举个例子
You might think that people who don't worry about their diet are fatter and more unhealthy; in fact, the reverse is true.
你也许会认为不担心自己饮食的人会更胖更不健康，实际情况却刚好相反。
If a situation goes into reverse, it becomes the opposite of what it was before.
如果一种情况 goes into reverse，它就会变得与以前相反。go into reverse 是一句英语惯用语，意思是“出现逆转；向相反方向发展”。

如果说 go into reverse 只是情况反转，但不确定向好的方向还是坏的方向翻转，那 turn the tables（on sb）则是“扭转局面，转而占（某人的）上风”，也就是我们常说的风水轮流转，今天到我家。当然，被动的 the tables have turned 也可以表示同样的含义。
🌰举个例子
She turned the tables on her rival with allegations of corruption.
她指控对手腐败，从而扭转了对自己不利的局面。
the tide turns

the tide turns 则指某人的运气，或某件事的形势转变了，可能是变得更幸运，也可能变得不幸。the tide turns in our favor 则是“局面变得对我们有利”。
tied 是个B2词汇，意思是“潮汐；潮水”。它还有“潮流，趋势”的含义。go/swim with the tide 就是“赶潮流；随大流”的意思，如果加上个against，go/swim against the tide 就是“逆潮流，反潮流”。

The team was on a losing streak, but then the tide turned and they went on to win the championship.
这支球队一直在连败，但后来形势逆转，他们继续赢得了冠军。
