许多人学会说的第一句话是“妈妈”，而从那之后，我们几乎每天都会把mum挂在嘴边。注意，mum这种拼写是英式英语，mom则是美式英语。
看到mum's the word这个表达，大家会怎么翻译？如果按照字面理解，很容易误解为“妈妈的话”，但实际上差太多了。mum's the word是一句保证，保证守口如瓶、不泄露秘密或消息。千万不要写成mom's the word，因为这里的mum并非是mother，它是指闭着嘴所发出的模糊、低沉的声音。
