昨儿个出门逛街，看着导航里的XX路、XX街，突然想到了一个和街道相关的表达，今天忍不住和大家分享一下，就像我们不能把Wall Street直译为“墙街"一样，on easy street自然也不是"容易街"。

on easy street
卓别林有一部喜剧短片叫做Easy Street，中文译名是《安乐街》。是的，easy除了指“容易的；不费力的”，还有“舒适的；安逸的；安心的”的含义。而on easy street的正确意思是：生活优裕，富有。

Joe lives on easy street and can buy all the new things that make life easy.
乔过着逍遥自在的日子，买得起各种东西，生活很舒适。

the man in the street
这个短语理解起来并不难：大街上有很多人，每个人看起来都不一样，但大部分都是普通老百姓。因此，the man/woman in the street用来指“平民百姓，市井小民”。
更有意思的反而是这个短语中的介词。在英式英语中，这个短语常搭配使用的是介词in，也就是the man/woman in the street；不过在美式英语中，常用的搭配介词是on，也就是the man/woman on the street。

To win the election he needs to appeal to the typical man in the street.他要在选举中获胜就需要迎合普通百姓。

be up your street
be up your street与街道就无关了，意思是“对某人的胃口，在某人的兴趣范围内”，也可以说是be up your alley，alley的意思是“小街；小巷，胡同”。
