line可是个拼写简单但语义丰富的词 如果只是把它当成“线”的意思来识记，真是大材小用啊。
在我们信誓旦旦地说要增加词汇量时，往往忘记了每个单词本身的详细用法。
有的时候彻底地或者灵活地掌握一个单词比记忆好几十个单词来得强。
line作名词表示“线”，作动词：
牛津：sth (with sth)to form lines or rows along sth 沿…形成行（或列、排）
line up排场一行，排队（等候）
【例句】
Crowds of people lined the streets to watch the race. 人群站在街道两旁观看赛跑。

The bottom line in business refers to a business's net income, net earnings, or net profit. It is referred to as the bottom line as it is found at the bottom of the net income financial statement.
bottom line指的是利润表上的最“底部”一行，是企业当期利润总额减去所得税后的金额的净利润。
【例句】
Don't tell me all those figures! Just tell me the bottom line.
别跟我说所有那些数字！告诉我最终盈亏就行了
top line
这可不是上限。回看上面的利润表，通常写在第一行的是sales 或者revenue, 也就是“销售额”或“收入”。
当老外说 Our top line will be looking very bad this year，你就可以表示同情了。他在告诉你，今年的销售额很差。

During his tenure, we have grown our business exponentially, with strong contributions to the top and bottom line. 他在任期间，我们的业务呈指数级增长，对公司的营收和净利润都做出了巨大贡献。
read between the lines 领会言外之意，从字里行间体会到（了解到）
To infer or understand the real or hidden meaning behind the superficial appearance of something.
【例句】
You read the lines, but you don't read betwwen the lines.
这或许可以解释，为什么考试做阅读时，不少同学感觉看懂了又全部选错了。
cut in line
插队。类似的词组还有jump the queue.
in line with 意为“符合；（与…）一致；（与…）相符”，相当于 in agreement with 或 in accordance with 等.
【例句】
Annual pay increases will be in line with inflation. 每年加薪幅度将与通货膨胀挂钩。
The company's results are in line with stock market expectations.该公司的业绩符合股市预期。
in line for “有可能获得某物”，它的意思相当于 likely to get sth. 千万别理解成“准备”。
【例句】
I’m in line for a promotion.我有可能升职。
前文说的“你别挑战我的底线”，可以用 Don't you dare test my limits.
