睡。
🚩sleep最常用，指“人或者动物周期性为恢复体力而睡眠，也可以指其他时刻的睡眠；既可以指白天的睡眠，也可以指白天的睡觉”，柯林斯解释为When you sleep, you rest with your eyes closed and your mind and body inactive.。
如：
During the car journey, the baby slept.坐车来的路上，宝宝睡着了。
I've not been able to sleep for the last few nights. 前几个晚上，我一直都无法入睡。
🚩drowse指“昏昏欲睡的身心状态，打盹儿，打瞌睡，半睡半醒”，柯林斯解释为If you drowse, you are almost asleep or just asleep.。
如：
Nina drowsed for a while.尼娜打了会盹。
drowse away a hot afternoon 打着瞌睡度过炎热的下午
🚩doze尤其指“白天的小睡，短时间的小睡”，柯林斯解释为When you doze, you sleep lightly or for a short period, especially during the daytime.。
如：
For a while she dozed fitfully.有一阵子，她时睡时醒。
I dozed off during the film. 我看电影时打起盹儿来了。
🚩nap也是指“白天的小睡”，柯林斯解释为If you nap, you sleep for a short period of time, usually during the day.。nap和doze的区别在于，doze有点“半睡半醒的状态，就是在小睡的时候可能还保持着清醒，即使你确实很困需要休息了，有点假寐的意味”；nap则是指“打瞌睡”，它还具有隐身含义是“该保持警觉或者警惕状态的时候却疏忽了，睡着了”。
如：
An elderly person may nap during the day and then sleep only five hours a night.老年人白天会小睡一会儿，然后晚上只睡5个小时
🚩snooze也指“白天的小睡”，柯林斯解释为If you snooze, you sleep lightly for a short period of time.。它与nap近似，但是snooze没有其他引申意义，并且snooze含有“睡得不沉”的意味，用于口语中。
如：
Mark snoozed in front of the television... 马克在电视机前打起盹儿来。
Patients are given an extra 15 minutes to snooze before being woken gently. 在被轻轻叫醒之前，病人还有 15 分钟的小睡时间。
🚩slumber文学味道比较强，是指“平静而安详的睡眠，尤其指睡得安稳而舒服”，牛津词典解释为sleep, especially peacefully and comfortably。
如：
The baby was slumbering peacefully. 孩子睡得正香。
🚩catnap是指“在活动间歇，断断续续地短暂睡眠，目的在于恢复体力”，多用于口语中。
如：
stay in top form by catnapping whenever he has a spare moment他一有空就睡一会，保持良好的身体状况。
