译文：
如果你需要预测人类在近期的身高变化，以便设计一款装备，戈登认为，基本上“你可以用现在的数据，相当有把握。”
翻译思路：
to design…表目的，当然翻译的时候可以放到其主干前面；如“如果为了设计…，你需要…”。但是我还是采用了英语原顺序。
那个in the near future，不远的将来。当然对。但是我还是用了“近期”，有人可能会觉得“近期”也可能是指中文的过去的事情；放心，这个句子不会有歧义，因为上文说“预测人类在近期”，预测的，当然是将来的。
最后，feel fairly confident，我没有翻译feel。
