翻译思路：
虚拟语气，如果中文能体现那个语气，就没有必要刻意处理。如果需要，可以用“要是，本应，就该”等等之类的来传达一下。

Habits are a funny thing. We reach for them mindlessly, setting our brains on auto-pilot and relaxing into the unconscious comfort of familiar routine.
词汇：
auto-pilot //n. 自动驾驶
unconscious //adj. 潜意识的，无意识的；不省人事的；不知道的，未察觉的
routine //n. 惯常，常规
译文：
习惯是有件有趣的事情。我们不注意就成了习惯，使大脑自动运转，一切轻车熟路，放松进入到潜意识的舒适状态。
翻译思路：
似乎好懂，但是不太好翻译通顺。动词短语reach for本义是move one’s hand in order to get or touch，这里借用的是get这层含义。
setting our brains on…是分词短语，做状语，解释说明上文reach for them (habits) mindlessly之后的结果。setting our brains on auto-pilot本义是“把大脑调成自动驾驶模式”；其实就是说“人成了习惯以后，大脑做事情不假思索”。
relaxing into the unconscious comfort of familiar routine，我把familiar routine翻译为“轻车熟路”，其实说的是“人成了习惯以后，大脑做事情不假思索，啥事情都很熟悉了…”。
