🚩separate是指“把原先合在一起的，相互连接、相互混杂、或者相互靠近的东西分开”，柯林斯解释为If you separate people or things that are together, or if they separate, they move apart.。
如：
Police moved in to separate the two groups...警方介入进来，将两拨人分开。
The front end of the car separated from the rest of the vehicle...汽车的前端和车身分开了。
🚩divide是“将一个整体分为若干部分”，柯林斯解释为When people or things are divided or divide into smaller groups or parts, they become separated into smaller parts.。它有时候可以代替separate，尤其是指互相对立或者相距甚远的分隔。
如：
The physical benefits of exercise can be divided into three factors...运动对身体的好处可以分为3个方面。
It will be easiest if we divide them into groups...如果我们将他们分成小组将是最简单的。
🚩divorce狭义上指“离婚”，广义上则指“讲两个紧密相连、相互作用，只有结合在一起才能和谐一致的人或者事物分开”，并且“这种分开有可能是错误的”。它常常用于被动态。柯林斯解释为If you say that one thing cannot be divorced from another, you mean that the two things cannot be considered as different and separate things.
如：
You can't divorce science from ethical questions. 不能把科学与伦理问题截然分开。
Good management in the police cannot be divorced from accountability.对警察队伍的良好管理和应负的责任是分不开的。
🚩disentangle是指“理顺、分清，清理出，尤其指混乱的观点或者想法”，柯林斯解释为If you disentangle a complicated or confused situation, you make it easier to understand or manage to understand it, by clearly recognzing each separate element.
如：
In this new book, Harrison brilliantly disentangles complex debates.在这本新作中，哈里森巧妙地理顺了那些纷繁复杂的争论。
It's impossible to disentangle the myth from reality.分清楚神话和现实是不可能的。
