Use Synonyms 使用同义词
转述前
The reasons for increasing levels of pollution are the development of industry and air travel.
转述后
The causes behind the rising pollution levels are the advancement of manufacturing and aviation.
However, in the exam, make sure you only paraphrase when you’re sure the meaning is the same. Don’t take risks.

转变词性 Use a Different Word Form
转述前: The line graph below shows the consumption of four kinds of meat in a European country from 1979 to 2004.
转述后: The line graph below shows how one European country consumed four kinds of meat from 1979 to 2004.
在这里我们把名词 "consumption" 换成了它的动词形式 "consumed"

主动变被动 Change from the Active to the Passive
转述前: The real estate developers invested over $40 million USD into the development of a new senior living community.
转述后: Over $40 million USD was invested in the development of a new senior living community.
在这里我们把 ‘invested’ 换成了被动形式 ‘was invested’

转述前
Nowadays university education is very expensive. Some people say that universities should reduce their fees, especially for the less fortunate students or for those coming from rural areas.
转述后
It is argued that universities ought to lower their fees, particularly for students who are less privileged or coming from rural areas considering that the cost of university education is exorbitant these days.
