Pure Brightness, the 5th solar term in the
traditional Chinese lunar calendar, usually falls between April 4th and 6th in
the Gregorian calendar.
清明是中国传统二十四节气中的第五个节气，通常落在每年公历4月4日至6日之间。
During Pure Brightness, as the spring
season progresses, the sky is clear and the climate becomes warm and humid,
signaling the revival of vegetation. This is why it's called "Pure
Brightness," which means clarity and brightness.
清明，意味着春季时节的深入，天空清澈，气候温暖湿润，草木复苏，一切都呈现出一派清新、洁净、明朗的气象，这也正是“清明”这个名字的由来。
With temperatures rising and increased
precipitation, Pure Brightness is a crucial period for spring plowing and
planting in agriculture. Farmers schedule sowing and cultivation activities
based on this solar term.
清明时节，气温进一步升高，降水量增多，适宜的温度和湿度使得农作物快速生长，因此，清明时节是农业春耕春种的关键时期，农民们会根据这一节气来安排播种、耕作等农事活动。
In addition to its agricultural
significance, Pure Brightness holds profound cultural and folkloric meanings.
It is an important traditional Chinese festival where people honor their
ancestors by sweeping tombs, reflecting the central values of filial piety and
family bonds in Chinese culture.
除了农业意义，清明还有着深厚的文化和民俗内涵。清明节也是中国传统的重要节日，人们在这一天会扫墓祭祖，缅怀先人，这一习俗体现了中华文化中孝道和家族观念的重要性。
Moreover, during Pure Brightness, with the
blooming of flowers and warm weather, it's a great time for outdoor activities
like spring outings, flying kites, and enjoying the beauty of nature.
此外，清明时节，春暖花开，也是人们外出踏青、放风筝、享受大自然美景的好时机。
Pure Brightness is not only a natural solar
term but also a significant cultural festival, recognized as one of the four
major traditional Chinese festivals and listed as a national intangible
cultural heritage.
清明节既是自然节气，又是重要的文化节日，因此被列为中国的四大传统节日之一，并且已被列入国家级非物质文化遗产名录。
