表示to make a short visit somewhere, especially while you are going somewhere else，在去某地的路上顺路去某个地方，比如顺路去拜访某人，顺路去买点东西，stop by后边可以加地点，也可以不加。

表示在去某地的路上，在路线上。和它相对的是out of the way，不顺路，不在路线上，也可以说not on the way。

我们在去派对的路上顺路买些饮料吧。
