talk down to sb. 表示to talk to someone as if they are less intelligent than you or not important，用带有优越感、高人一等、居高临下的口气和人说话。

second-guess 作动词有两个意思，第一个是表示to seek to anticipate or predict，在事情发生之前猜测会发生什么，猜测某人会怎么做，第二个是表示to criticize someone's decision after it has been made, and say what you think is wrong with it，事后才开始质疑做得不对，批评已经做出的决定。
