今年7月以来，持续高温的天气，电力大省四川出现了用电缺口不得不对工业用户进行限电。除工厂停止供应生产用电，在成都等地，还要求关闭公共区域LED屏幕，严格执行公共建筑空调温度在28℃以上的控制标准。今天我们就来学习和这一新闻相关的知识。

Xiaohua：What? Sichuan began limiting electricity supply to homes, offices and malls. That's too bad.
小华：什么?四川开始限制家庭、办公室和商场的电力供应。这是可怕的。
Xiaohong：Yes. The power limitation was due to a severe power crunch.
小红：是的。电力限制是由于严重的电力短缺。
Xiaohua：What caused the power crunch?

Xiaohong：It was driven by extreme heat waves and drought.

Xiaohua：What's more, fountains, light shows and commercial activities during the night hours are to be suspended. Why was that?

Xiaohong：I think Sichuan really relies on hydropower to generate 80% its power. Soaring temperatures and little rain this summer have reduced hydropower generation in the province.

Xiaohua：I hope that everything will return to normal soon.
