马斯克在Twitter拥有逾8,300万追随者，是发帖最多的Twitter用户之一。他从2022年1月开始买入Twitter股份，至3月他加强了对Twitter的批评，称Twitter算法有偏见、自动垃圾帖与正常发帖混杂。他还表示，Twitter的用户增长被机器人账号数量夸大。
