If a plan is on ice, a decision has been made to delay it for a period of time. 如果某个计划 is on ice，意思是已决定将其推迟一段时间。
be on ice 并不是“在冰上”，而是“搁置，暂缓”的意思，它的意思与 put someone or something on ice 相同，都是“推迟对某人或某事采取行动”。

cut no ice 和 don't cut no ice 的意思其实是一样的，都是指“没能使…改变主意；对…不起作用。”比如这个例句：

on thin ice 并不是指“在薄冰之上”，而是指“非常接近陷入麻烦、困难或危险，岌岌可危”。

walk on thin ice “在薄冰上行走”，想想就是十分危险的行为，这个习惯用语的意思正是“如履薄冰”，谨慎地行事，以免使某人不安或引发一些迫在眉睫的灾难。

不过，walk on thin ice还有另一层意思，指“做一些非常危险的事情，可能导致迫在眉睫的后果或灾难”，也就是“在危险边缘不断试探”的意思
