part-time job 是我们最熟悉的“兼职”的英语说法了。但其实用part-time job 来指我们说的兼职、副业不足够准确。
If you work part-time or do part-time work, you work for only some of the day or the week.
如果你做兼职工作，你只工作一天或一周的一部分时间。
Workers are considered to be part-time if they commonly work fewer than 30 hours per week.
如果工人通常每周工作少于30小时，则被视为兼职。
part-time 在英语中的意思突出指非全时的、部分时间的，至于在这份非全时的工作之外你是否还有其他工作，那不一定。

moonlight 就比 part-time job更有“兼”的意味，意思是 to work at an extra job, especially without telling your main employer，从事第二职业，尤指瞒着正职雇主的情况下的兼职。

sideline

sideline 指的是 an activity that you do as well as your main job，这个意思也就是说你sideline的有可能不是一份正经的job工作或职业，而是可能帮你赚钱的activity活动，不过在中文中也同样翻译成“副业，兼职工作”就可以了。

side job

side job / side hustle / side gig 这三个词组是同义词。
A side job refers to a piece of work or a job that you get paid for doing in addition to doing your main job. 也就是除了你的主要工作之外的一份有报酬的副业，兼职。
side hustle和side gig是美式英语，而且因为hustle和gig这两个单词本身就比较口语化，所以side hustle和side gig也是口语中的说法。side job更可用在书面中。
