虽然不爱做家务，但还是得承认把家收拾的非常干净整洁是一件非常有成就感的事。那“非常干净”除了 very clean 在英语中还可以怎么说呢？
clean as a whistle 是英语口语中非常干净的意思，whistle 的意思是“吹口哨”，虽然这种说法有些莫名其妙，但确实很常用。

We scrubbed the old boat until it was (as) clean as a whistle.
我们把旧船擦洗得很干净。
除了 clean as a whistle 之外，爱夸张的美国人还有一种检验/证明某物“非常干净”的方法，那就是能直接用它吃饭（eat off）
