在今年看过的爽文中，果然还是昨天的那“篇”最过瘾。昨天国企技术员工，因不满领导安排清明节加班而在工作群里怒怼领导，最终硬核辞职的故事，让广大打工人直呼过瘾。
长期自愿加班、无效加班、管理不善、领导层官僚... 一堆的脏话中精准踩中每个能刺激打工人的点。虽然这个事件的真相到底如何，目前还是尚待观察，但能引起如此强烈的集体情绪共鸣，本就说明了一些急需解决的问题。

relate to sth/sb

relate 是个C2水平词汇，它的意思中我们比较熟悉的，是当它指“找到联系；证明…有联系”。
We need to explain why these issues are important and relate them to everyday life.
我们需要解释为什么这些问题很重要并且和他们的日常生活相关。
relate 的常用动词词组自然是 relate+to sb/sth，这是个C1水平的动词词组，意思是“涉及；与…相关；有关”，而其中的 relate to sb 还可以用来表示“理解某人；体恤某人”这个意思。

Chapter 9 relates to the effects of inflation on consumers.
第9章的内容是关于通货膨胀对消费者的影响的。
Many parents find it hard to relate to their children when they are teenagers.
很多父母感到，当孩子到了十几岁的时候，就很难理解他们了。

但今天C姐想说的重点是 relate 在口语中的非正式的用法，它可以表示“领略；认同；发生共鸣”。所以，这就导致 relate to sth 也还有第二个意思，它可以用来指“理解；认同；与…产生共鸣”。

empathize 与 sympathize

首先要说的是，empathize 和 sympathize 在英式英语中常常写作 empathise 和 sympathise，所以不要意为是C姐拼错了哈~ empathize 和 sympathize 不仅长得挺像，它们的意思也有相似的地方。
empathize 指的是“表示同情；有同感，产生共鸣”，也就是 be able to understand how someone else feels，是指能够懂他人的感受。
而sympathize 更多的则是 understand and care about someone's problems，表示“同情，体谅，怜悯”。
🌰 举个例子
It's very easy to empathize with the characters in her books.
读者很容易和她书中的人物产生共鸣。
I know what it's like to have migraines, so I really sympathize (with you).
我知道得偏头痛有多难受，所以我真的很同情你。
除了上面提到的之外，sympathize 还有另一个意思，表示“support支持”。
I sympathize with the general aims of the organization, but on this particular issue I disagree.
我支持这个机构的总体目标，但在这个具体议题上，恐怕我不能苟同。
identify with sb

identify 作为一个B2词汇，意思是“认出，识别”、“确定；发现”。
它的动词词组 identify with sb 同样是B2水平英语词汇，同样需要掌握，意思是“认同某人，与某人产生共鸣”。
