“啃老”的英语表达
“啃老”指的是具有谋生能力的成年人还靠父母供养，所以“啃”老肯定不是bite the old
，我们可以说live off one's parents，动词短语live off sb/sth的意思是“依靠…生活”，比如：All his life he had lived off his father.
他一辈子都靠父亲生活。
They had learned to live off the land.
他们学会了靠土地吃饭。
例句中的live off the land = grow or find their own food，靠地吃饭。
关于live还有另一个动词短语live on sth，这是个B2水平的短语，意思与live off有些相似，它用来指“靠...这些钱生活”或“靠…食物生存；只吃”，也就是说live on后只能接sth，不能接sb，比如：
We lived on very little when we first got married.
我们刚结婚的时候日子过得很紧。
The job provides enough to live on.
这份工作足以维持生活。
I more or less live on pasta.
我基本上只吃意大利面。
英语中还有一种说法，可以表示“啃老”。NEET是not in education, employment, or training的首字母缩写，是政府用来指已离开学校但没有工作，而且也不在接受工作培训的年轻人。所谓的“尼特族”正是neet的译音。
