“跑步机”的英语表达
英语中“跑步机”有两种说法，其实相比于running machine这种说法，更常用的是treadmill~
tread作动词时，意思是“踩；踏”，mill作名词指“碾磨机，磨粉机”。所以你想到了什么吗？
在成为“跑步机”前，treadmill指的是那种人力或畜力的用于提供动力的踏车；不过treadmill更常用作监狱中被判处苦役的人的惩罚装置。犯人们每天在treadmill上长时间不断重复踩踏这一个动作，所以延伸一下，treadmill用来表示“繁重无聊的重复性工作”，也不难理解。

过去养育孩子似乎就是永无休止的喂饭、洗衣和换尿布，繁重而又单调。

trainer和instructor
如果胖了，最好不要说fat或fatter，这个词语气掌握不好就显得不是很礼貌，你可以说：put on/gain weight，用它来表示长肉了，不管是对他人还是对自己都会显得没有那么具有攻击性。
每个人work out健身的方法都不同，有人喜欢夜跑、有人喜欢跳操、有人喜欢hit the gym去健身房等等...
健身房的动感单车课叫做spin class，单车教练则是a spin instructor或a spin class instructor；不过健身房的私人教练却叫做personal trainer。
所以，你分清trainer和instructor之间的区别了吗？
An instructor mainly provides information and instruction, while a trainer provides guidance and support to help a person develop their skills and knowledge.
instructor主要提供信息和指示，而trainer则提供指导和支持，来帮助另一个人学习技能和知识。
Instructors focus on teaching material to participants, while trainers often use the material they teach to guide participants in accomplishing set goals.
instructor专注于向学生传授知识与内容，而培训师通常使用他们教授的内容来指导学生实现既定目标。
instructor指的是“教练，指导者”或“大学讲师”，比如：
Our driving instructor is very strict.
我们的驾驶教练要求非常严格。
Her husband is an archery instructor.
她丈夫是射箭教练。
The college promoted him from instructor to full professor.
学院把他从讲师提升为正教授。
trainer指的是“培训师；教员，教练”，也有“驯兽师”的意思，比如：
He is a successful trainer in the tennis field.
他是网球领域成功的教练。
She's been working as a personal trainer for three years.
她当私人教练有3年了。
