。对于萧敬腾求婚经纪人成功一事，网友们纷纷表示：“恭喜恭喜”、“还挺有夫妻相”、“十几年了，陪你一路走来，替你开心”，同时还不忘调侃“雨神，你办不了室外婚礼”。
上面提到的pop the question和ask for one's hand in marriage其实都是“求婚”的意思。
So did he pop the question, then?
那么，接着他求婚了？
而关于“求婚”还可以用动词propose /prəˈpəʊz/表示，其名词形式则是proposal /prəˈpəʊ.zəl/。
I remember the night your father proposed to me.
我记得你父亲向我求婚的那个晚上。
固定搭配propose a toast的意思是“提议为…祝酒；提议为…干杯”。toast除了是“烤面包片，吐司”，这个名词也有“祝酒；干杯”的意思。
Now, if you'd all please raise your glasses, I'd like to propose a toast to the bride and groom.
现在，请大家举起酒杯，让我们为新郎和新娘干杯。
为什么“祝酒”也被叫做toast呢？因为The Romans used to put spiced toast in their punch bowls，罗马人过去会把调过味的面包片放到他们的酒碗里。
当然，propose这个B2水平词汇同时还有“建议；提议；提出”的意思。
He proposed a motion that the chairman resign.
他提出了一项让主席辞职的动议。
不止如此，propose还有“提名，推荐（某人）担任某职（或参加某组织）”，以及“计划，打算”的含义。
To be nominated for union president you need one person to propose you and another to second you.
要被提名为工会主席，你需要有一个推荐人和一个附议人。（这里可千万不要翻译成求婚啊

求婚成功之后，准备婚礼的第一重要事自然是确定婚期啦，英语中“确定婚期”的说法其实特别简单，叫做name the day。

而且，英语口语中，the big day指的就是“结婚日”，而不是其他的日子。

那么什么时候结婚呢？
最后再说一种英式英语中的表达：wedding breakfast其实指的就是“婚宴，喜宴”，wedding breakfast作为婚礼仪式的一部分，在婚礼结束后进行，一天中的任何时候能可能，但通常是在下午。所以不要纠结于breakfast啦。

他们的婚宴是在当地的教堂举行的。
不过更常用的表达“婚礼招待会，婚宴”的词其实是wedding reception，或者省略wedding，只叫reception，
