🚩stick是指“粘附，可以是人与人、物与物之间的粘连，具体的连接或者比喻意义上的连接，强调不容易分开”，柯林斯解释为If one thing sticks to another, it becomes attached to it and is difficult to remove.。
如：
The soil sticks to the blade and blocks the plough.土粘在犁铧上，卡住了犁。
Peel away the waxed paper if it has stuck to the bottom of the cake.如果蜡纸已粘在蛋糕的底部，就把它撕掉。
🚩adhere意思与stick相同，柯林斯解释为If something adheres to something else, it sticks firmly to it.。它与stick相比，adhere较少用于成语之中，但是当表示通常不相连或者分离的部分由于生长的原因而粘连在一起，习惯用adhere；如果指人，adhere常常表示有意或者自愿接受。
如：
Small particles adhere to the seed.小颗粒牢牢附着在种子上。
This sticky compound adheres well on this surface.这种黏性的化合物能牢牢地粘在这个表面上。
He urged them to adhere to the values of Islam which defend the dignity of man.他鼓励他们坚守伊斯兰教维护人类尊严的价值观。
🚩cohere的主语用单数集合名词或者复数名词，表示“众多事物聚合在一起而产生一个集团或者统一的整体，连贯，有条理”，如果强调“产生一个统一的整体”这个概念，意思与stick和adhere相同。柯林斯解释为If the different elements of a piece of writing, a piece of music, or a set of ideas cohere, they fit together well so that they form a united whole。

The various elements of the novel fail to cohere.这部小说的各部分之间缺乏连贯性。

🚩cling是指“抱在一起不放，暗含着主动缠绕，寻求支持的意思”。柯林斯解释为If you cling to someone or something, you hold onto them tightly.，是“仅仅抓住，抱紧”；或者If someone clings to a position or a possession they have, they do everything they can to keep it even though this may be very difficult.，是“抓住职位或者财产不放”；或者If someone clings to a person they are fond of, they do not allow that person to be free or independent.，是“人粘着另一个人”；或者Something that is clinging to something else is stuck on it or just attached to it.，是指“物依附另一个物体”。
如：
She had to cling onto the door handle until the pain passed.她只好紧紧握住门把手，直到不疼了才松开。
They hugged each other, clinging together under the lights.他们彼此拥抱，在灯光下紧紧相依。
He appears determined to cling to power.看来他决心要抓住权力不放。

🚩cleave是指“坚守，信守，忠于，表示紧密型和贴合的强度；用于人，表明现身的程度和忠实爱慕的程度”，科林斯解释为If someone cleaves to something or to someone else, they begin or continue to have strong feelings of loyalty towards them.。
