选择：Option，Choice，Alternative
🚩option是“摆在那里可供你选择的事物”。
柯林斯解释为An option is something that you can choose to do in preference to one or more alternatives.。它也可以表示“你的选择，你的选择权”，柯林斯解释为If you have the option of doing something, you can choose whether to do it or not.，这个义项常常搭配the option of doing something。
如：
As I see it, we have two options…。据我看，我们有两种选择。
Going to college is not an option for me.上大学不在我的选择之列。
Criminals are given the option of going to jail or facing public humiliation...罪犯可以选择要么坐牢，要么遭受当众羞辱。
🚩choice常用单数，主要表示“选择的自由，选择的权利，选定的人或物”。
柯林斯解释为Your choice is someone or something that you choose from a range of things.，尽管option也有这层含义，但choice更为常用。
Choice也可以表示“可供选择的东西，选择的范围，选择的余地”，这层意思与option近似，但是choice不如option正式；柯林斯解释为If there is a choice of things, there are several of them and you can choose the one you want.。
如：
The choice is yours.选择权在于你。
Although he was only grumbling, his choice of words made Rodney angry.尽管他只是在咕哝，可是他的措词却让罗德妮恼火。
It's available in a choice of colours... 有多种颜色可供选择。
At lunchtime, there's a choice between the buffet or the set menu... 午餐可以吃自助餐，也可以选套餐。
🚩alternative是“替代方案”。
柯林斯解释为If one thing is an alternative to another, the first can be found, used, or done instead of the second.。
如：New ways to treat arthritis may provide an alternative to painkillers.关节炎的新疗法可能是止痛药之外的另一种选择。
如果表示可供选择的事物用option，choice，或者alternative都可以；但是alternative指“两项选择，而不能是多项选择”。三个词都可以搭配We had no choice/option/alternative but to…（我们别无选择，只能）。但是如果表示选择的权利和自由，则只能用choice或optioin，不能用alternative，比如If I had the choice/option, I would…（如果让我选择，我会…）。She doesn’t have much choice/option.（她没有多少选择的余地）。
