Every weekday morning, I leave my flat around 8 am and walk to the nearby metro station. I walk on the right-hand side of the road, through an open parking lot and then down a sidewalk to Entrance D of the underground station. There, I take the escalator leading underground. If I am running late, I make my way down the escalator, passing the commuters standing on the right.
During rush hour, the station usually takes passenger-flow-control measures. Station staff use queue barriers and other facilities to manage and distribute the flow of passengers, preventing overcrowding. I usually have to wait in line for a few minutes before I can enter the station.
At the security check, I put my backpack through a scanner and walk through a metal detector. I then go to the ticket gates, scan my metro card and take the stairs down to the platform, where I wait for Line 6 in the direction of the airport.
The train pulls into the station, and the doors open with a chime. I stand aside and let passengers get off first before boarding. Since there are never any vacant seats at this time of day, I stand for the entire ride.
I take out my phone to read the news, or put on my earphones to listen to podcasts. The metro makes five stops before reaching my destination. As the train slows down, I put away my phone, gather my belongings and move towards the door. I get off quickly once the train comes to a stop, and walk with other commuters to the escalator.
I don't need to change lines, so I head straight for the exit. At the exit, I scan my card at the ticket machine. The fare is 4 CNY for 6 stops. I then go upstairs, leave the station through Exit D and walk to my workplace. My morning commute usually takes about 25 minutes.
表示“在高峰期间”,用in/at/during rush hour都可以。
③ commute/kəˈmjuːt/可以做不及物动词,表示to regularly travel a long distance to get to work,长距离上下班,通勤。Commute from Foshan to Guangzhou,从佛山去广州上班,也可以说成commute between Foshan and Guangzhou。
