They came from far away to support their team.
他们从很远的地方赶来支持他们的球队。
People came from far away to Paris for the show.
人们从遥远的地方来到巴黎观看演出。
05 Make a/the long trip to do sth.
Make a/the long trip for sth.
Make a/the long trip from [出发地] to [目的地]
Thank you for making the long trip to visit us.
感谢您这么远过来看望我们。
He made a long trip for the interview; I hope he gets the job.
他大老远赶去面试，我希望他能得到那份工作。
Last month I made a/the long trip from Atlanta to Canada and back.
上个月我从亚特兰大长途跋涉到加拿大，然后又回来。
make a long trip和make the long trip的区别：
make a long trip比较笼统通用，指路程很长，不需要知道具体是从哪到哪的路程；
make the long trip指具体的一段很长的路，语境中出现过具体的地点或路线，对话双方知道是从哪到哪的路程。
A: I heard she took a week off and made a long trip to visit her sister last month.
take+一段时间+off表示请一段时间的假。
B: Oh really? Where does her sister live?
是嘛，她姐姐住哪儿？
A: I'm not sure.
我不太清楚。
A: Are you heading back to China in January?
你一月份回中国吗？
B: Yeah, I always make the long trip home to Harbin for the Spring Festival.
是啊，我每年春节都回哈尔滨老家。
