·1. vicious circle/cycle·
vicious /ˈvɪʃəs/ 形容词，表示violent and cruel，凶残的，狠毒的，带有强烈恶意的，可以形容人或事物，a vicious killer，a vicious dog, a vicious attack.
circle /'sɜːkl/ 可数名词，表示圆圈，O这个形状。它也可以作动词，表示“在...上画圆圈”，circle the correct answer，把正确答案圈出来。
cycle /'saɪkəl/ 可数名词，表示 a number of related events that happen again and again in the same order，循环，循环周期。
恶性循环原本是叫vicious circle，说cycle的人多了，现在vicious circle和vicious cycle两个都可以用，词典两个都收录，在学术和专业语境里用vicious circle比较多，非专业语境以及美式英语里vicious cycle更加常见。

virtuous /'vɜːtʃuəs/ 形容词，behaving in a very honest and moral way，正直的，品行端正的，很有美德的，是一个比较正式和书面的单词，一般形容人，不过良性循环也用这个词，virtuous circle/cycle。
例：The more you practice speaking, the more confident you'll feel, and that just makes you want to practice even more. It's a virtuous cycle.
口语练得越多就会越自信，越自信就会越想继续练习，这是一个良性循环。
例：Exercise creates its own virtuous circle. Once you start a routine and stick with it, you'll feel so great that you'll want to keep going.
锻炼会产生良性循环。一旦你开始了日常锻炼并坚持下来，你会感觉非常好，从而想要继续坚持下去。
